Philippine Football Federation (PFF) President Mariano Araneta confirmed that the “Azkals” are all fine, when they left Japan on Saturday for Ulan Bator, Mongolia. The team then reunited with Jason Sabio, who safely arrived at the airport on Friday afternoon. Besides Sabio, midfielder Simon Greatwich went directly to Incheon City in South Korea and then took a direct flight in Ulan Bator to join his teammates.
The Azkals and German mentor Hans Michael Weiss, supported by team manager Dan Stephen Palami, had trained in Gotemba City at the eastern foot of Mount Fuji for their high-altitude training since Monday to acclimatize themselves to the cold weather in Mongolia. A draw will be fine for the Azkals against Mongolia in this second leg since they already took a two-goal advantage in the first leg.(by Josef T. Ramos) Read Full Story
