Jason de Jong

Born on February 28, 1990, to a Filipina mother and a Dutch father, Jason Nicolas Maria Dantes De Jong is a Filipino-Dutch professional football player playing as a midfielder for both the Philippine Azkals and Eerste Divisie club BV Veendam.

At 6, Jason already played intensely as he started out with a local football club in the Netherlands. Since then, he’s played in several teams such as Belgium Turnhout and NAC Breda, a premier league club in Holland. It was through the Internet that the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) discovered his Filipino roots and placed him in the Philippine Azkals.

Jason, branded as the “Bad Boy” among the Azkals, was originally invited to participate for the Netherlands U-19 team but turned down the offer to be able to play for the Philippines instead. In September 2008, Jason made his international debut for the Azkals in the qualifying rounds of the AFF Suzuki Cup in Cambodia. Like his teammates, the height of his international career was winning against Vietnam 2-0 in their hometown.

Moreover, Jason has been well-behaved throughout his entire stint in the Philippine NT. He has not yet, by any means, been handed a red card. He’s just been suspended one time due to two yellow cards he received in Laos. But he has gotten into fights with other players simply because of how he plays.
