Born on August 4, 1987, Filipino-British Philip James Placer Younghusband plays as forward of the Philippine Azkals. Similar to his older brother James of mere 11-month gap and co-Azkal Neil Etheridge, Phil also started with Chelsea Academy at the age of 9. Phil was Chelsea F.C. Youth Team’s top scorer in 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons, where he made his initial reserve start in November 2004. Phil went on to manage 21 appearances for the Chelsea reserve team, together with 18 starts and scoring five goals.
Together with James, Phil was invited to play for the Philippines in the course of the 2005 South East Asian (SEA) Games and eventually became a significant member of the national team playing as forward since 2005. In 2007, he signed a contract with a Danish Club, Esbjerg fB going on loan transfer for the 2007 – 2008 season but returned to Chelsea during the January transfer window. In summer of 2008, his Chelsea contract ended and eventually moved to the Philippines.
Phil, recently sealed the Philippines’ 2-0 victory win over Mongolia when he scored the second goal with a curling shot in 92nd minute of game 1 of the AFC Challenge Cup 2012 last February 9, 2011 in Bacolod City, wherein his co-Azkal Chieffy Caligdong scored the Philippine Azkals’ first football goal late in the first half.
