2012 AFC Challenge Cup Main Draw Elite 8 Complete

The 2012 AFC Challenge Cup main draw is now complete after the last set of group matches concluded, Monday.



The elite eight – Palestine, Philippines, India, Turkmenistan, Maldives, Tajikistan, North Korea and Nepal will advance to the final tournament of the AFC Challenge Cup, the most prestigious football tournament for emerging nations in Asia.

Nepal advanced after a goalless draw against Sri Lanka today at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu.

Only North Korea, the 2010 AFC Challenge Cup defending champion, was able to register three consecutive wins in the qualifying stage.

Based on FIFA Rankings (as of March) the standings of the eight contenders are – Palestine (178), Philippines (151), India (145), Turkmenistan (154), Maldives (161), Tajikistan (148), North Korea (113) and Nepal (172). Source
