PFF’s Araneta expects less expense for July games

Philippine Football Federation (PFF) President Mariano Araneta said the cost of refurbishing the venue for the 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifying games would be lower than what the country has spent sprucing up the Panaad Football Stadium when it hosted the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup qualifier between the Azkals and the Blue Wolves of Mongolia in February. The Philippine Azkals are set to take on Sri Lanka in the said event in July.

The PFF is yet to decide on the location of the venue whether in Manila or in Bacolod.

“We are still deciding on the location of the venue but so far the cost will be lesser this time. Since the match will be held in the afternoon, floodlights are not needed. We only need few renovations if it will be held in Rizal or Bacolod,” said Araneta.

During the games in Panaad, the PFF and the Philippine Sports Commission had spent P 2 million for the renovation and lighting of the football field. Source
